SORA Training

About our NJ SORA Course

New Jersey Security Officer Registration Act

SORA is a mandatory certification that all individuals working for a licensed or registered security agency in the state of New Jersey must obtain. This act was established to ensure that all security guards in NJ receive state-certified training so that they are qualified to provide protection, and meet the standards set by NJ state laws. It also requires individuals to undergo background checks, ensuring that only appropriate candidates are placed in these safety positions.

Integritrain offers SORA First-Time courses for new applicants as well as Renewal courses for returning applicants.

SORA First Timers

SORA Training consists of a three-step process which MUST be completed within a 30 day period:

Step 1: Register for a SORA training course **
Step 2: Register with the NJ State Police Department
  • Registration must be completed using a computer (not a smartphone or tablet)
  • Individuals must log on to the state police website and fill out the registration for a “30 Day Temporary Certificate of Registration as a Security Officer”- https://eapps.njsp.org/applicant/logon.do
  • Registration costs $75 and takes approximately 10 minutes
  • Upon completion, you will receive a temporary certificate which must be printed out and presented on the first day of class
Step 3: Set up a fingerprinting appointment
  • Once you’ve completed your registration, click on the link at the bottom of the application to schedule your appointment to be fingerprinted
  • You will be responsible to pay a $67.38 fingerprinting fee on the day of your appointment
  • The fingerprint appointment can be made for before or after the SORA training course. Fingerprinting is not a requirement to take the training course

** All three steps must be completed within 30 days. We strongly recommend scheduling your SORA training class prior to registering with the state police.
